Shortlist announced for the Halton Business Awards 2024
A powerful new supercomputer will help UK industry to harness the potential of artificial intelligence (AI).
The shortlist has been announced for Halton’s most established and prestigious business awards, which returns for its 14th year on Friday 7th June 2024.
With 52 companies shortlisted in 17 different categories, this year has seen an all-time high in the number of entries and the widest representation of Widnes and Runcorn based businesses.
2024 has also seen the introduction of a new award: ‘Innovative Business of the Year’, thankfully being sponsored jointly by Sci-Tech Daresbury and new sponsor Science and Technology Facilities Council, STFC. This award recognises Halton’s innovative approach to business and recognises a company’s new ideas, processes, products or service, celebrating the technologies and applications that have helped to have the greatest impact on an organisation’s success.
This year’s awards are backed by an impressive line-up of sponsors including INEOS Inovyn, a premier chemical company sponsoring Clean, Green Business of the Year, Redrow, one of the UK’s leading private home builders sponsoring the Commitment to the Community category, and Halton and St Helens VCA, an incorporated registered charity sponsoring the award for Social Enterprise of the Year. Halton Housing, an innovative housing provider and Liverpool John Lennon Airport also demonstrate their commitment to the Borough as these awards help recognise excellence and celebrate best practice.
New sponsors Sedulo, sponsoring Rising Star, High Growth Business of the Year, Viridor, sponsoring Young Person/Apprentice of the Year and Liverpool University’s Horizons Programme, sponsoring Manufacturer of the Year have all helped to make sure that this year’s Business Awards will be the biggest and the best yet.
As ever, this year’s competition is open to all Halton based organisations and co-ordinated by Halton Chamber of Commerce with the final award winners being announced on the 7th June at the DCBL Stadium, Widnes. Dave Guest, former BBC North West Tonight journalist, will be the host of the 2024 Gala Dinner and Dave will reveal which Halton based businesses and local 3rd Sector/Social Enterprise organisations will walk away with one of these highly coveted awards.
Rachael Owen, Chief Executive at Halton Chamber of Commerce, which organises these Awards said: “I’m very grateful for the support of some of the Borough’s most prominent businesses, who help make this event Halton’s number one business celebration of the year. The range and pedigree of our sponsors says a lot about the quality and standing of the Halton Business Awards and the calibre of entrants that it attracts. We are thrilled to be announcing the shortlisted businesses. These businesses have done extremely well to be shortlisted as we have had a phenomenal response to this year’s business awards.
We’re very grateful too for the expertise and support of our independent panel of judges who represent a breadth of industries from across the borough and beyond and who next have the extremely tough job of the choosing the winners.
I’m looking forward to joining everyone and celebrating their success at the Gala Dinner, which regularly attracts over 400 people, is a fantastic night out and always a sell out so I’d encourage everyone to book their tickets now.”
Tickets are available at a discounted price for Halton Chamber Members of £65 plus VAT and £75 plus VAT for non-members. With tables of up to 12 also available and when you buy 10 tickets you will get an 11th free of charge.
A range of sponsor opportunities are still available, if you would like more information or to book your tickets, please email [email protected] or call 0333 358 3480.
