Sci-Tech Daresbury’s Array Training expands with new NDT training product line

Array Training Limited – regionally headquartered at the Innovation Centre – has expanded its operational capabilities with the introduction of a new, dedicated machine shop for the production of an extensive range of off-the-shelf and custom-made steel flawed samples.

These precisely engineered samples are essential tools for NDT competency checks, trials, and examinations, supporting technicians and companies operating in the energy, maritime, and industrial sectors – where safety, accuracy, and competency are critical and the investment enhances the company’s ability to deliver high-quality Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) training and assessment services across multiple industries.

NDT uses techniques such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing to evaluate the integrity of materials and components without causing damage. These methods are critical for identifying defects and ensuring the safety and reliability of assets in sectors such as energy, maritime, construction, and manufacturing.

Founded in 2012, Array Training has established itself as a leading provider of NDT training and consultancy services. The company’s portfolio includes technician training leading to professional qualifications in a wide range of NDT techniques, as well as specialist courses covering In-Service Inspection, Ship’s Hull Gauging, and Radiation Safety. The company also provides Level 3 Consultancy to support clients in developing and maintaining their own NDT activities.

As the global energy landscape evolves, Array Training is committed to supporting the energy transition by helping companies and individuals develop the skills needed for renewable and sustainable energy sectors, while continuing to serve long-standing clients in maritime, construction, processing, and oil & gas industries.

Ray Wilson, Managing Director of Array Training, said: “Our new facility allows us to introduce realistic flaws into steel components, replicating the types of defects technicians may encounter in the field This capability is vital for ensuring the workforce is properly trained and certified to the highest standards.”

John Leake, Business Growth Director at Sci-Tech Daresbury, said: “Array Training’s continued growth and innovation are a testament to the strength of the Sci-Tech Daresbury community. The company’s investment in advanced training facilities and manufacturing capabilities not only supports workforce development in critical sectors but also reflects the collaborative and forward-looking ethos we foster across our campus.”
