Job Description

As Project Manger for an ESA and Innovate UK-funded space project you will be responsible for ensuring that the team delivers on time and within budget. You’ll also be required to support other projects when necessary.

You’ll work across the business engaging with differing stakeholder groups including the technical team to understand what opportunities and risks exist within the project’s parameters.

You’ll be the key link between the technical team and the CEO, and central to the timely drawdown of project funds.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering on multiple projects (including the planning and execution). Current projects
underway include Innovate UK and ESA

• Execute projects in accordance with established schedules and budgets

• Ensure that any potential risks are highlighted, necessary stakeholders are briefed and these
are monitored and mitigated where possible

• Lead and motivate cross functional project teams to deliver a high performing work
environment

• Engage with the internal leadership team and finance to ensure an accurate forecast is in
place

Your skills and experience:

• You’ll need to have experience of leading and delivering projects within a highly technical field.

• An understanding or exposure to teams of technical engineers will be highly beneficial for this role as this will represent one of your main stakeholder groups in the business.

• Technical experience i.e. building project plans and monitoring and allocating budgets and resources within a project will all be required.

• Experience of working in a highly regulated industry is needed, ideally experience in the aerospace or defence industries.

• You’ll also need to be able to communicate well if you’re going to be able to resolve the conflicting priorities which are a routine feature of early stage businesses.

In addition to the above SmartIR is looking to build a team which values diversity, collaboration and have a strong work ethic. It’s a small, but growing team so you’ll need to be adaptable and willing to support the rapidly evolving needs of the business.
