Perceptive Engineering

It’s been more than a decade since Perceptive Engineering first arrived at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

The engineering consultancy set up base at the science and innovation campus’s Innovation Centre in 2006, before relocating to Vanguard House in 2012. Thirteen years later, the company now employs 25 staff out of its Sci-Tech Daresbury office, with separate teams in Ireland and Singapore offices.

An industry leader, Perceptive Engineering receives its clients’ process and quality data directly from the manufacturing plant and uses this information to help improve efficiencies of their operation.

Using its leading-edge software and tools, the company designs and implements systems that reduce waste and costs, increase production capacity and improve the quality of the end product.

Dave Lovett, managing director of Perceptive Engineering, explained why the company chose Sci-Tech Daresbury: “The campus’s access to nearby transport links via road, air and train was one of the biggest attractions for our business and continues to be one of the many benefits we’ve enjoyed since basing our operations here. Sci-Tech Daresbury’s hyper-connected location allows us to easily service our customers in the UK and around the world. It’s also a big attraction when recruiting talent into the North.”

Perceptive Engineering combines the latest academic research with proven and reliable systems which can meet the needs of the most demanding industries. The company has led the charge towards new ways of manufacturing pharmaceutical ingredients and medicines, which is now becoming widely adopted.

It boasts collaborative partnerships with some of the biggest names in the pharma sector, such as Pfizer, GSK, Merck, GEA and Siemens.

Last year the company announced a major partnership with automation giant Siemens AG. Perceptive’s PharmaMV and Siemens’ Simatic Sipat software products were integrated to provide a versatile solution for advanced control and optimisation applications in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The company is also closely involved in some of Europe’s leading industrial research hubs, such as the Centre for Process Innovation’s National Formulation Centre in Sedgefield, Durham. Perceptive Engineering has also taken key roles in two ground breaking research projects that will transform drug design and the supply chain, which is moving the pharma industry nearer to personalised medicines.
