Ellis Williams Architects Relocates Cheshire HQ to Sci-Tech Daresbury

Ellis Williams Architects has relocated its Cheshire Headquarters to Sci-Tech Daresbury marking a significant new chapter for the practice after 27 years based at Wellfield, Preston Brook.
Wellfield, a purpose-designed office created by a previous Managing Director, Jim Buxton, was designed to embrace low-carbon, sustainable principles. A concept, arguably way ahead of its time. The premise of the design sought to maximise daylight and natural ventilation, helping to reduce the building’s carbon footprint and create spaces to support positive energy, balance and wellbeing. For more than a quarter of a century, Wellfield provided a strong and stable base for the practice while supporting clients across the North West and beyond.
The move to Sci-Tech Daresbury, just two miles from Wellfield, reflects Ellis Williams’ long-standing commitment to the region and its ambition for continued growth. The National Science and Innovation Campus offers a dynamic environment designed to accelerate the development of ambitious businesses. Its collaborative ecosystem, partnership opportunities and innovation-driven culture align closely with the practice’s values and future direction.
Ellis Williams is actively involved in research and development, exploring emerging materials, technologies, techniques and design methodologies to push the boundaries of what architecture can achieve. Our commitment to innovation ensures we remain at the forefront of future industry trends and the evolving skills shaping the built environment. We are recognised leaders in sustainable scientific research design, life sciences and education facilities. Joining the Sci-Tech Daresbury community will further strengthen our position and support continued growth in these sectors.
Surrounded by nature, Sci-Tech Daresbury provides an inspiring setting that supports the physical and mental wellbeing of our colleagues. With on-site cafés, restaurants, networking spaces, cycle routes, a gym, fitness classes, outdoor areas and canal walks, it offers a vibrant and engaging environment for staff and visitors.
Our move to Sci-Tech Daresbury underpins our values putting People, Places and Planet at the centre of everything we do and creating better environments for the benefit of all.
Neil Adshead, Managing Director, said:
“Relocating to Sci-Tech Daresbury marks an exciting new chapter for our Headquarters and Cheshire Studio. This move reflects the strength and growth of our regional team and gives us the environment to collaborate, innovate, and welcome our clients in a space that matches our ambition. It also provides our people with the facilities and surroundings to do their best work and reflects who we are as a practice.”John Leake, Business Growth Director at Sci-Tech Daresbury, said:
“It is a pleasure to welcome Ellis Williams to Sci-Tech Daresbury. The campus has innovation and collaboration as two of its important pillars that has helped drive our growth over nearly 20 years. These attributes are clearly at the heart of who Ellis Williams are, and how they do business. Therefore, we are delighted that they have decided to make Sci-Tech Daresbury their home and look forward to supporting their future growth through the community on campus and the partnerships we have in our wider network.”
